Opportunity Description

Sciences Po, the French "grande ecole" for the study of political science, international relations, economics, sustainable development, law, and related subjects accepts one Cornell student each year.  Preference is given to full-year students.

What is unique about this program?

  • Sciences Po has a dynamic teaching faculty, high achieving students, and a special “methodologie” for their classes involving student presentations and group work.
  • EDUCO, Cornell's consortium program in Paris, arranges optional activities & excursions and can provide tutorial support.
  • EDUCO arranges housing in homestays or student residence halls at the Cite Universitaire.
  • All students must have advanced French to study at Sciences Po. All courses must be taken in French.
  • The EDUCO Consortium of Cornell in Paris is automatically a back-up for Sciences Po.

Refer to the academics tab for more information on courses and credit.

 What is unique about Paris?

Needless to say, Paris is central to many ideal visions as the hub for philosophy, music, art, literature, theater--in short, "culture."  But it is also the hub for political thinking and action on matters of identity, representation, labor rights, medicine, banking, and climate concerns. Whether in the streets, the cafes, or the classrooms, you will be at the heart of much that is changing in Europe.

Centrally located on the Left Bank, Sciences Po has expanded to include the site of a former Dominican Monastery and the site of France's "Artellerie." The Paris location serves masters and PhD students along with undergraduates. Sciences Po also has six additional sites around the country solely for undergraduates, each with a different regional focus. Their largest undergraduate campus, focused on "transatlantic relations," is located in Reims, a 45-minute train ride from Paris. Cornell students may propose to study at any of the sites, although support through the EDUCO Consortium is only offered to students in Paris.

Academic Calendar

  • Fall: Late August - Mid-December
  • Spring: Early January - End of May

For specific details, refer to the academic calendar posted on the EDUCO website under "Program d'Etudes" or "Academic Program"

How do I apply?

Applying to study on an exchange program is a two-step process. The Cornell approval process must be complete before your program advisor in the Office of Global Learning can submit your nomination to the exchange partner.  Exchanges may have limited spaces, so early applications are encouraged.

  1. For Cornell approval and nomination, click on the "Apply" button on this webpage. Applications are approved by your college and the Office of Global Learning on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this page, or earlier, if filled.
  2. Once nominated by Cornell, complete an external application specifically for exchange students Schools typically admit the students nominated by exchange partners, but you must complete this process for them to review your application and offer you a place.

Sciences Po Paris must be a first choice to be considered for admission.  EDUCO is the automatic assumed back-up for all Sciences Po applicants.  No second application is needed unless you desire a different back-up program.
